Work with Brennan

From the Artist

When you see these images of my art here, I would like you to see an artist who has gone off-script. While there are threads of continuity, I don't know what the next creation will look or feel like. This is important to me– to always stretch, to always imagine bigger than what will fit in the box of what has already been created. Commissions and inquiries about my work constantly surprise me and continue the creative process anew. I look forward to connecting with you.

About the Work

Brennan Hubbell’s works in wood, metal, concrete, mosaic, and reclaimed materials range from small, decorative sculptures to functional designs for pools and fountains, to large-scale public art pieces. The context of the artwork, both environmental and cultural, is very important to Brennan. He tends to create site-specific work, with clients and/or community members playing an essential role in the creative process.

In his studio, Brennan is currently elaborating on ideas derived from his recent teaching experiences at Pro Kids, First Tee – San Diego. He particularly enjoys working in relief, a form of sculpture that includes elements of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional work.

Commissions

What to Expect

The first step in commissioning Brennan is to complete a brief questionnaire about your project and schedule an introductory meeting. If the project seems like a good fit, Brennan will send you a proposal with concept drawings, a budget, and an estimated timeline. Once you and Brennan agree on any final alterations to the proposal,* Brennan can get to work!

Brennan sometimes works in tandem with the client or, in the case of public art, a group of volunteers. Brennan enjoys creating and constructing side-by-side with individuals and groups who want to actively participate in the artistic process. The client or volunteers do not need to have any prior experience with the art form, just a desire to learn something new and co-create a piece of art they can take pride in for years to come.

*Please Note: Occasionally, a potential client wants to make drastic changes to the proposal that are outside Brennan’s scope or current artistic direction. In this case, Brennan may choose to decline the project.
